5 Ways to Increase Participation on Your Remodeling Company's Facebook Fan Page

By: senderling yanes

Facebook fan pages are all about the interaction by and with your remodeling company's fans. Once your page is created and you begin to post on a regular schedule, your fans should begin to make comments, ask questions, and generally interact. At least, that's the goal.

But what if you create your fan page, post regular and fresh content, but not one of your fans makes a comment or post?

Try these 5 ways to increase participation on your remodeling company's Facebook fan page:

1. Post video content. Fans love video. Post video you take of a job in progress, share client testimonials on video, create a video question and answer.

2. Post photos. Fans love photos as much as videos. Post photos of jobs your company has finished, company-sponsored events, happy clients, new products you are using, your office, your vehicles. You get the picture. Take lots of pictures and post them. And ask your fans to tag photos in which they appear. That way their photos (and your fan page) appear to their own network of friends.

3. Integrate your Facebook fan page with your other marketing campaigns. Once you have more than 25 fans, you can get a user name through Facebook. That makes it easier to use your Facebook fan page url in other marketing materials. Ask your clients and potential clients to join you on Facebook.

4. Use Facebook advertising. It's simple, inexpensive, and can be highly targeted. Your ad can appear worldwide or only within a few miles of your office. You decide. Target your typical client and your ad will automatically be shown to that demographic by Facebook.

5. Use Facebook's Insights to determine what is working and what is not. Do more of what's working and change what is not.

If your remodeling company's Facebook fan page is not engaging as many fans as you would like, try these five ways to increase fan participation.

Facebook Marketing - The New Standard

By: yolando brunow

Many people will swear by Google AdWords but in my opinion Facebook is actually the new standard when it comes to pay per click advertising.

Not only are you allowed to define your demographic by age and gender but also by location, level of education and a whole host of factors. Apart from this since people on Facebook are in picture scanning mode they are most definitely going to pay attention to what your picture is.

When using Facebook though there are a few things to consider which make the type of advert you use different to Google AdWords.

Firstly the size of the picture you use must be 110px x 80px or smaller. This means that when designing your graphics they have to be able to convey what you're aiming for in a relatively small space. You will be pleased to know though that even with their size these little clips are extremely effective.

The next thing to note is that these adverts are going to be on the side of the person's Facebook page. This means that the persons' mindset won't be the same. This means that you won't want to use overly capitalized ad-copy because that will quite simply be intrusive. Can you imagine trying to read a message from your brother and 'lowest prices guaranteed visit today!' Is plastered on the right hand side of your screen?? You're most likely going to 'x' it which will make sure that your ad stops showing up as much as you'd want it to.

When considering what kind of picture you're going to use remember the fact that as I said before people are in 'picture scanning' mode when on Facebook. Also remember that most of the pictures they are scanning are pictures of other people so if you can use a picture that looks like a profile picture then most definitely go with it. I do mean this within reason, if you're advertising a package deal for 4 to the Bahamas don't try to use a picture of some guy in front of his computer twiddling his thumbs.

Lastly to truly make your adverts wonderfully targeted make sure to define your demographic before hand. If you want 'males between the ages of 18 and 25 that are in high school' then write that down. There are so many different ways to define who gets to see your advert on Facebook that if you just think 'oh I'll be able to choose when I'm g

Reigning in Information Overload - Facebook

By: okumoto koso

Keeping in the theme of reigning in information overload this week, I'm going to talk about managing Facebook.

Many of us use our Facebook profile to keep up with High School friends and family but we also use it to market our business! So, how do you keep from having to scroll past all the FarmVille news feeds and silly app invites while still keep your sanity?

First, you need to make a decision about what your primary purpose is for Facebook. If you are going to use your profile for marketing your business, then you have to put down some ground rules with your friends and family.

I am all in favor of playing games on social networks, don't get me wrong! I have a private MySpace profile where I play my games but because games automatically post to your status feed - or wall on Facebook - I do not allow game playing on my Facebook account. Conversely, I post very little about my professional life on my MySpace game playing profile.

That doesn't stop my well-meaning friends and family from sending me app invites for all kinds of things on Facebook. I just quietly block the app and ignore the request. Occasionally, I will also post a friendly reminder update that I do not play games on my Facebook profile.

Another step you can take to manage your news feed on your home page is to group your connections by category by using the list feature.

When you are on the Home section of your profile, click the Friends link on the left navigation. In the upper, middle section of the screen, you will see a button that has a plus sign ( ) and is labeled: Create a list. You will have the option to make the list private or public during the creation of it.

For example, I have my High School friends in a list titled: High School. Family is under a family list, and for people I am professionally connected with I have a Professional list. There's a list for politicians I follow, Fans and Pages, and even a catch-all titled, Peeps for my social networking friends from Twitter and other social sites.

Now, here's where the lists come in handy! On your Home section news feed, you can click on your list and see only the feeds of the people of that particular list!

Checking up on your family? Click the family list. Want to engage your professional or business connections? Click that list.

You manage the information overload by not having to sort through all the FarmVille, Mafia Wars, and hug posts of your casual friends and family when you really want to focus on your business relationships!

Catching Up With Friends in Facebook

By: gettman kasky

Are you familiar with Facebook and Twitter? These two social media networks are now very famous not only in the United States but in the whole world.

A lot of people already have Facebook accounts. This is commonly used by people aging 16 to 30 although a lot of younger than 15, usually pretending to be of the right age, and older than 30 years old are starting to join this account because this is a venue or a chance of meeting friends, and friends of your friends. Meeting new acquaintances and even long lost friends and classmates are very possible in this site.

Aside from meeting old and new acquaintances on line, there are games, business advertisements, classifieds and fan pagers offered and available. This website is trying to cater all interests, convenience and comforts of the members.

Twitter, is totally different from Facebook. It talks about status updates.

The main concern of Twitter is connecting people with the same interest, ideas and thoughts. It doesn't focus to family and friends like Facebook does. It allows you to connect with people you don't even know.

Famous people such as celebrities, news anchors, authors, composers, etc. are all using Twitter to reach their fan base. With your applications on the phone, you could inform the whole world what you are doing and it's not a hard for you to post your personal updates.

In Twitter you can see if other people are "tweeting" about things that you are interested also. For instance, you have read something and you like it, you can choose to follow someone. This is comparable to Facebook of befriending someone.

It's like you choose who you want to connect for a reason. Facebook and Twitter are just the same in the sense that they both are social networks, the on

Twitter and Facebook Contests Are the Future of Interactive Advertising

By: knepel mowrey

Marketing professionals are seeking new ways to reach and interact with their audience. Traditional outbound efforts are slowly dissipating to make room for the future of advertising. Interactive campaigns have been all the rage, but many companies are failing to come up with creative campaigns that meet their objectives. It is time for banner ads and text ads to step aside and make room for full interactive marketing that stretches across multiple media connecting a target market. Though these efforts may take more creative initiative and timely human resources, they prove to be far more effective and cost efficient than traditional marketing.

As a popular commercial that many of us may remember from Wayne's World 2 says, "they'll tell two people, and they'll tell two people." This kind of viral marketing cannot be bought with traditional advertising means. One company that is looking to take advantage of their dynamic online platform is launching a series of connected viral marketing campaigns. TalentTrove.com is an online talent community, from musicians to comedians, singers to dancers, and models to photographers, TalentTrove.com gives everyday people the ability to showcase their talents with the world. TalentTrove serves as a multimedia platform for artists and talent seekers to connect through multiple features including distinctive categories, advanced social networking and live media distribution. "We do not believe in using traditional advertising, not for ourselves or our prospective sponsors and advertisers", said Stephen Racano, Interactive and Social Media Marketing Manager. Instead, creating contests like 'Tweet your Talent', launching Facebook applications, using Facebook Connect, and making creative interaction between social media and TalentTrove.com is the goal. 'Tweet your Talent' is a campaign in which any twitter user can reply with a #tweetyourtalent hashtag and earn a chance to receive a weekly $20 iTunes gift card.

How to Use Facebook Applications to Promote an Established Company or an Entrepreneurial Venture

By: zakrzewski cimaglia

There are a number of obvious advantages for marketers using Facebook applications to promote their company. One of the biggest advantages that both large companies and entrepreneurs have found is that they can promote their organization or new venture online using viral marketing rather than relying on SEO (which can be a much more complex thing to understand especially for newer companies without the resources to hire an SEO consultant). Another advantage of using Facebook applications to promote a product or company through viral marketing is that it can bring in large amounts of traffic immediately without having to wait for search engines to index onsite content and tediously building links in the meantime. Of course, clever marketers can find ways to make sure that their application helps with SEO as well as provide viral marketing.

Now for the bad news. Companies trying to use Facebook Applications for viral marketing will find that the chances of reaching immediate success are not as high as they used to be. They have a number of applications that they must compete with and many Facebook users are less likely to try a random application, particularly if they do not closely know the person who invited them to use it. Marketers must also be honest with themselves about how likely the application is to help promote their company. If the application users do not feel motivated to visit the company's website or call to purchase the products or services then the developers are wasting their time. The other major concern with using Facebook applications is that the traffic they bring in is limited to the lifetime of use for the application.

Successfully using Facebook applications to promote the flashy new product or innovative new venture they have created is actually going to require some careful planning and hard work. There are a few simple but very important tactics that developers of Facebook applications should use to sell their product or promote their business: Know when to use a forced invite for the application: The company that started the Happy Hour application required users to invite others to promote their product found their strategy to be very successful. Of course, many other ventures soon followed suit. Unfortunately, this strategy doesn't work for all audiences.

Believe it or not, many users are too lazy to take the two minutes to invite some of their friends to use the application and will actually give up on using it the second they realize they have to go through the hassle. The best solution is for developers to know who the target audience is for both their application and their company and know whether or not they will be turned off after being forced to invite their friends. If this is the case, the company should know not to force them to invite their friends to use the application at the beginning.

If they like the application, they will happily invite their friends to use it (and more importantly, go to the company's website to learn more about the venture and the products that it is selling) Use news feeds responsibly: News feeds not only remind users to continue using the application, they also encourage their friends to use it if these feeds show up their wall. But if the application uses too many news feeds users will feel as if they are being spammed and may disable the application. Make sure the application encourages them to visit the company website or purchase its products.

Obviously, the application needs to have the name of the venture and the logo where it seems to make sense to use them. It is also advantageous to find ways for the application to interact with the company to facilitate future purchases. This can be done by offering coupons through the application or requiring the user to visit the company website to find information on how to use the application more effectively. Again, these tactics should not be overused. Most importantly, invite lots o

How to Use Facebook Pages For Your Business

By: Jake Spears

What is it?

Facebook was originally meant to be a place for social interaction of college friends, and eventually evolved into one big hub of mutually linked individuals whose primary purpose of joining is to reconnect with old mates and relatives, among other reasons. Now, Facebook is considered to be the largest social media in the world, with more or less 500 million active users and an approximate growth rate of 145% (in the US alone) at the beginning of 2010's first quarter. With this demographic, it's easy to see why more and more companies are taking advantage of the popularity and market Facebook has to offer.

Why do businesses need it?

Facebook has become a tremendously valuable business tool that could boost a company's popularity less than overnight with the right tools, marketing strategy and of course, the right market. By making use of Facebook's Pages feature, companies are tapping into their markets' personal area, and reaching out to them in a totally fresh and different way.

By making use of the largest threshold of socially active individuals, companies are turning a one-way road into two-way bridges, where they can reach out to consumers and interact with them without being too pushy and at the same time, opening their doors to consumer ideas. Something you cannot simply achieve with a TV or radio stint. Why pay hundreds of dollars for a 30-second stint, when you can (almost) pay for nothing and get the same (if not better) market value?

How to Use it:

Facebook Pages are different from Facebook Profiles being that profiles are for personal use whereas pages can be used in a multitude of ways. In pages, you can place all the pertinent information about your company or business and include anything and everything that relates to your businesses.

Here, you can post:

  1. Introduction or overview about your company
  2. Website and contact information
  3. Press releases
  4. Videos
  5. Pictures
  6. Twitter updates
  7. Company news
  8. Customer interaction

It's also easier to work with Facebook as compared to working with websites and blogs for marketing simply because you don't have to be technical. If you want to update your fans/consumers on what's new, all you have to do is log in and putting up something on your wall.

Here are the steps into setting up your own Fan Page:

  • Log into Facebook (you can use an existing personal account or a new one that you'd like to keep solely for business purposes).
  • Scroll to the bottom of your homescreen and click on Advertising. Click on Pages and then Create a Page.
  • Customize by choosing the type of business you own and filling out other areas. If your satisfied with what you've entered, publish it. Don't forget to put pictures (logo) relevant articles and videos etc.

Afterwards, you can opt to enhance your page with applications, RSS feeds and videos.

Promoting your Page:

Now since this isn't your personal profile, you cannot simply add friends the way you ordinarily would. The trick here is to virally spread the word over the internet to introduce or market your page to the public. Ask for friends' and colleagues' help by asking them to first 'Like' your page and then recommending it to their friends/acquaintances. You will be using the system of free networking here.

Another way to promote your page is to keep a steady conversation going. Again, you may need to ask the help of your friends and colleagues. Open a discussion or forum about a product or service your company is offering. You can also post a status on your wall and encourage feedback using that. Promote your page constantly, but leep things light and interesting, and never flo
