Search engines pull back results based on relevancy. Since the majority of the searches for a business that is done on the internet is looking for a specific product and/or service it is important to list those on the first page of a website landing page or a profile page. If you are using a profile to capture all the important business information and for ease of directory submission, that profile page should have a link to your website.

An overview of business description is a must for the business website landing or profile page. Using robust content when describing your business will not only tell your potential customers what you do, but will also help your rank in the organic listings of search engines. For the product or service overview, the word robust means to have content rich and relevant information, not filled with fluff, specifically focusing on keywords and information pertaining to your business. In other words, the landing page or profile is not the place to explain what your theory on business is as much as it is designed for the type of business you do. Consumers, at the first stage of searching, are not sorting results by how many years you have been in business; they are looking for a specific product and/or service in their area. Likewise, the search engine spiders, otherwise known as crawlers, will not consider that type of information as highly relevant.

The product overview may tell the client that you are an air conditioning and refrigeration company and the products and services portion of the profile or landing page will specifically bullet point all of the individual services you offer. This will help the consumer to quickly find the list, allowing them to determine if you offer the service they need, such as commercial refrigeration, while providing the search engine spiders with content rich and relevant information therefore helping your profile or landing page to rank organically. Other information housed on a landing page include additional links, perhaps to the better business bureau, press releases, and a place for frequently asked questions.
